The IACTE Fall Conference, Education in a Digital Environment, will be held online Thursday, October 22, 2020. This is a great professional development opportunity for our IACTE community to grow and learn around several themes related to digital management, learning and self-care (Themes include - Lessons from the Road; Adapting Coursework and Field Experiences; New and Novel Approaches to Technology in Education; Teaching in Multiple Delivery Modes; and Mental Health and Self Care in a Digital Environment). We are still taking applications for session proposals – a big thanks to those who have already submitted but we would like more! The Call for IACTE Fall Conference Session Proposals is attached to this message, so please continue to share this information widely with your colleagues and encourage them to submit a session proposal. Our ‘final’ call for session proposals will be by Friday, September 4th! – Please contact one of the conference co-chairs, Jeff Haverland ([email protected]) or Angela Hunter ([email protected]), if you have questions.

Our community college colleagues really appreciated the information we have shared collectively about our current requirements for the pre-professional skills test etc. in response to HF 2359. This information is helpful to them as they advise and prepare their students for transfer into our programs. There has been a request to add information to this document about clinical/observation hour requirements for teacher education program admittance (Have there been any changes? Can students fulfill this requirement through virtual hours or working as tutors with K-12 students as they complete work online?). If a program representative could take the time to add this information to this document it would be much appreciated.
IACTE Members’ Responses to HF 2359 This is one of the most difficult decisions facing our programs and it is one that I am receiving the most inquiries about – what is everyone doing? In order to keep members informed I created another document where programs can voluntarily share their plans pertaining to practicum students and student teachers to date. We know this is a fluid situation and plans will change and evolve. We appreciate those who are willing to share their plans with colleagues!

William Penn University has closed campus to all outside groups due to the threat of Covid-19 (corona virus). The timeline is unknown at this time, therefore we have decided to cancel the Teacher Career Fair. Knowing each school district will need to get their hiring complete, virus or not, we just don’t see the necessity to hold the fair much later. We will be organizing to host the 2nd annual, first ever, WPU Teacher Career Fair in spring of 2021.
Thank you for sharing this with your students, we will reach out again when planning starts for 2021. Click below for the SP2020 Conference Registration form
