Helping students gain essential skills crazy fast
GoReact is on a mission to close the skills gap! We help prepare students for successful futures and give educators the tools they need to spend more time teaching and less time grading and managing student videos. march 17th, 1-4pmStudents and alumni from teacher education programs throughout Iowa are invited to attend the first teacher career fair at William Penn University. Anyone who is immediately seeking employment as a teacher or looking to extend their network for employment in the future should attend. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from school districts from SE Iowa, NE Missouri, and SW Illinois. ![]()

The AACTE Annual Meeting will be February 28-March 1 at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, GA. The IACTE reception at AACTE will be Friday, February 28, 6-7 PM at the High Velocity Sports Bar at the Marriott. Appetizers will be provided. If you or other members from your institution plan on attending this reception, please contact Denise Crawford (dschmidt@iastate.edu) by Feb. 27, so she will know how many to expect and how much food to order. We look forward to getting our group together at AACTE.

IOWA BILL WOULD CHANGE HOW TEACHERS DEAL WITH CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR
"School employees would receive guidelines on handling violent behavior and could physically remove a student from class for more reasons under a bill advanced by a Senate subcommittee Thursday. Proposed by Sen. Amy Sinclair, R-Allerton, Senate Study Bill 3080 would provide more standards and guidelines, as well as protections, for teachers dealing with threatening and violent behavior in the classroom." On Wednesday Feb. 5th 6pm in rm. 103 supreme court chambers the education committee is having a subcommittee meeting about this and is encouraging principals, supers, and teachers to come participate. IACTE Day at the Capitol is almost here! Wednesday, Feb. 5th.

RSVP to Jodi Grover Serve as Educational Program Consultant for the Iowa Department of Education in the Leading, Teaching, Learning Services Bureau supporting educator preparation programs in Iowa. This work includes site visits, providing general technical assistance, recommending para professional programs for approval, overseeing teachiowa.gov, supporting the Iowa Professional Development Model (IPDM), and analyzing and preparing federal reports on teacher shortages. This position will also be a part of the Department educator preparation team working together to continuously improve Iowa’s educator preparation programs.
